Eve Xelestiál Moreno–Luz
Eve Xelestiál is a gender and sexually dissident multi disciplinary artist living & studying in San Diego, CA. Originally raised in South Central and South East Los Angeles, Xelestiál’s photo-journalistic approach to portraiture is self-described as a radical encounter of love. Her practice is committed to combatting hegemonic media through her personal identity, visual art, and poetry. Her visual work explores the reclamation of denied spatiality and the combustion of vulnerability between soulXcameraXsoul. Her poetry work centers affections, tenderness, and the rage of the furious diaspora.
Xelestiál’s visual work has been co-featured at the Museo Nacional de la Estampa, the Huntington Library, the Getty Museum, and on Rest for Resistance. Eve’s speaking and workshop engagements include the California African American Museum, University of California Berkeley, and the Genders & Sexualities Alliance Network.
